Perth United Malayalee Association [ PUMA ] extends our helping hands to many organisations and individuals since we started in 2013.Each year we focus on selected charities and support them with a host of different activities and events.In 2019 our aim is to provide financial treatment aid to those who are fighting with various diseases and are unable to afford treatment in Kerala.Those who are in real financial crisis for treatment can apply.
We will carefully go through the applications received and the most eligible families will get support for their treatment.
Severe floods affected the south Indian state of Kerala, India due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season. PUMA decided to raise fund for chief minister's relief fund through GoFundMe.We managed to raise $20011 within a month,and handed over one Million Indian Rupees to Kerala Chief Minister Mr Pinaray Vijayan for Chief Minister's distress relief fund.
PUMA hosted the first Kerala Carnival on 5th August 2017.The main attractions were Tug of war, Fancy Cricket, Penalty Shootout, Races,Pony Rides, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting,variety of food counters, Dance and Music. A charity raffle draw was done at the carnival to aid the Starlight Children's Foundation of Western Australia. We raised $3011.49 from the raffle draw and the same was donated to Starlight Foundation.
PUMA conducted charity show on 9th July 2016 to provide financial treatment aid to those are in need. The main attraction was 'KAKKATHI' drama organised by Perth Kalasangam. Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett and Amit Kumar Mishra, Consul general of India were the chief guests for the day.We have managed to raise $7370 through ticket sales and the whole amount was distributed to 9 shortlisted families. Mr Eldho Abraham,MLA Muvattupuzha has done the fund distribution at the meeting held on 23rd September 2016 at Muvattupuzha.
PUMA organised the first charity show to keep our tradition of extending a helping hand to the people in need of help and we have provided financial aid to the Cancer patients in Ernakulam General Hospital, Kochi Kerala, India.The charity show was conducted on 31st May 2014 which was inaugurated by Mr.Logan Howlett, Cockburn Mayor. The main attraction of the programme was Drama 'PAKALVEEDU' performed by Perth Kalasangam.We have managed to raise $5095 through
